Tips for reports parents love

  • Lead with the highlight: a new word, a great nap, a fun outing.
  • Use times. “Napped 1:00–2:40” is more useful than “good nap”.
  • Keep concerns factual and calm, and say what you did about them.
  • Add one or two photos. Parents treasure them.
  • Send at the same time every day so parents know when to look.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a nanny daily report be?

Short enough to read in a minute: a few lines per section, with times. The detail lives in the log; the report is the summary.

Should a babysitter send a report for a single evening?

Yes, a brief one: what they ate, bedtime and how it went, and anything that happened. It takes two minutes and parents appreciate it.
