Questions about NannyLog

33 answers about how NannyLog works for nannies, babysitters, au pairs and parents.

The basics

What is NannyLog?

NannyLog is an iPhone and iPad app for nannies, babysitters and au pairs. It combines a childcare activity log, daily reports for parents, an hours tracker with one-tap clock-in, invoices, incident reports, expenses, a shared calendar and parent messaging. Parents use it free. It is made by J & H Technology LLC.

Is NannyLog the same as Nanny Daily?

Yes. NannyLog was previously called Nanny Daily, and nannydaily.com is its official website. The App Store listing is “NannyLog: Reports, Hours & Pay” from J & H Technology LLC.

How much does NannyLog cost?

NannyLog is free to download and free to start. The free plan covers 1 child and up to 10 log entries a day. NannyLog Premium costs $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year and adds unlimited children and logs, hours tracking with clock-in, invoices and arrival check-in. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Parents never pay.

Is NannyLog free for parents?

Yes. Parents join with an invite code from their nanny or babysitter and see everything shared with them at no cost.

Is NannyLog available on Android?

NannyLog is currently available for iPhone and iPad (iOS 15.1 or later) from the App Store.

How do parents connect to their nanny in NannyLog?

The nanny invites the parent from Settings → Parents. The parent receives an email with an 8-character code, downloads NannyLog, chooses “I’m a Parent” and enters the code. If the app opened in nanny mode, go to Settings → Switch to Parent Mode, then tap Enter Invite Code.

Who is NannyLog for?

Nannies, babysitters and au pairs who look after children in a family’s home, and the parents of those children. It is not built for daycare centers or for finding a caregiver.

Is NannyLog a marketplace for finding nannies or babysitters?

No. NannyLog does not list jobs or caregivers. It is the app a nanny or babysitter and the family use together once they are working with each other.

How is NannyLog different from Care.com or Sittercity?

Care.com and Sittercity are marketplaces for finding care. NannyLog is for after you have found each other: the caregiver logs the child’s day, sends reports, tracks hours and sends invoices, and the parents follow along in the same app.

How is NannyLog different from a baby tracker app?

Baby tracker apps are usually built for parents logging their own baby. NannyLog is built for the caregiver: the nanny or babysitter records the day, and the parents see it in their own free app, along with reports, messages, hours and invoices.

Does NannyLog use AI?

Optionally. On iPhones that support Apple Intelligence (iOS 26 or later), NannyLog can draft the daily report for you using Apple’s on-device model, so the child’s details are not sent to a third-party AI service to write it. Everything else works without AI.

For nannies, babysitters and au pairs

What app can nannies use to send daily reports to parents?

NannyLog builds a daily report from the meals, naps, diapers and activities you logged during the day. Add highlights and up to five photos, then send it. Parents get a push notification and read it in their free NannyLog app.

Is there a babysitting app that tracks hours and creates invoices?

Yes. With NannyLog Premium you clock in and out in one tap, set an hourly rate for each family, and turn tracked hours into an invoice you can share as a PDF. Invoiced hours are marked so they are never billed twice.

What can I log in NannyLog?

Meals and bottles, naps, diapers, activities, milestones and photos. Each entry takes a tap or two and is timestamped, and each child has their own timeline.

Can I use NannyLog for more than one family?

Yes. Each family keeps its own children, hours and hourly rate, so you can work for several families from one app.

How does NannyLog handle siblings?

Each child has their own timeline. When you clock in you choose which children you are caring for, and invoices bill each hour once per household rather than once per child.

How do I record an injury or incident?

Create an incident report with a severity level, what happened, what you did and photos. The parents are notified and acknowledge it in their app, which leaves a dated record. In an emergency, call your local emergency number and the parents first.

Can I get reimbursed for things I buy for the kids?

Yes. Log the expense with a photo of the receipt. The parents approve or reject it in their app and mark it reimbursed when they pay you back.

Does NannyLog handle payroll or nanny taxes?

No. NannyLog creates invoices and keeps the record of hours. Families pay you directly by the method you list on the invoice. For household payroll and tax filing, use a dedicated payroll service or an accountant.

Does NannyLog work for au pairs?

Yes. Au pairs use the same daily log, reports, shared calendar and messaging to keep host parents up to date.

For parents

What can parents see in NannyLog?

Their child’s activity timeline, daily reports and photos, messages, incident reports, the shared calendar, supply requests and expenses. When the caregiver uses Premium, parents can also see tracked hours and invoices.

Can both parents connect to the same nanny?

Yes. The caregiver invites each parent with their own invite code, and each parent can message the caregiver directly.

Will I be notified when something happens?

Yes. Parents get push notifications for daily reports, new messages and incident reports, and can choose which calendar event types notify them.

Does NannyLog track my nanny’s location?

No. NannyLog has an optional arrival check-in that shares the caregiver’s location only at the moment they choose to check in. There is no background location tracking.

Can parents add events to the calendar?

Yes. Parents can add appointments, school events and playdates for the children they are connected to, and the caregiver sees them in the same calendar.

Plans and pricing

What is included in the free plan?

Unlimited children and log entries, the hours tracker with one-tap clock-in, invoices, and arrival check-in. Everything else is free.

Is there a free trial of Premium?

Yes. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial through the App Store. Cancel in your Apple ID subscription settings at least 24 hours before it ends and you will not be charged.
